New Opioid Approved .. but for How Long?

Controlled-release OxyContin is the last opioid pain killer to be approved by FDA.

FDA said "The new formulation will most likely result in less abuse by inhaling or injection, but it still can be abused or misused by ingesting larger doses than are recommended.

They added "The manufaturer company -Purdue Pharma- will be required to conduct a post-market study to collect data on the extent to which the new formulation reduces abuse and misuse of its drug".

Isn't it attractive to drug abuser to ingest larger doses to obtain the effect they want? we'll see.
